We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site.

Our free tools

Our tools are designed so that what you type or upload stays in your browser. Calculations, config checks, file hashing, decoding and the self-assessment run entirely on your device and are never sent to us. There are three exceptions, each clearly marked on the tool:

  • Vérificateur de sécurité du courriel de domaine sends the domain name you enter to Google Public DNS (dns.google), or Cloudflare (cloudflare-dns.com) as a fallback, to look up public DNS records.
  • Password breach check sends only the first 5 characters of the SHA-1 hash of your password to Have I Been Pwned (api.pwnedpasswords.com). Your password itself is never sent (see the explanation on that page).
  • Links you click to other websites, such as documentation and standards, take you to those sites under their own privacy policies.

Cookies

Unless you accept analytics, we use only cookies needed for the site to work, including one that remembers your cookie choice (mag212_consent): WordPress cookies for logged-in editors and comment authors, and cookies set by our caching and security software. We do not use advertising cookies. Only if you click “Accept” on our cookie banner, we use Microsoft Clarity on articles and the homepage. Clarity is an analytics service that sets first-party cookies (such as _clck and _clsk) and records anonymized page interactions such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can see which pages are useful and fix layout problems. Clarity masks text you type into forms, is never loaded on our free tools pages, and is not used for advertising. If you click “Decline” or make no choice, Clarity is not loaded. See Microsoft’s privacy statement at privacy.microsoft.com. You can change your choice at any time: Cookie settings. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work for reading and using the tools.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the site and the business, under their own data-protection terms:

  • Hostinger — website hosting and email delivery.
  • Brevo — newsletter sign-up, confirmation and delivery (your email address, language and topic choices).
  • Microsoft Clarity — website analytics on articles and the homepage, as described under Cookies.
  • WPForms — contact form software running on our own site.
  • Calaméo and similar viewers — when you open an embedded magazine edition.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, clients or ourselves. Some providers may process data outside your country; where required, they use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a request, email consultant@mag212.com; we will respond within the time the law requires. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Sécurité

We protect the site with HTTPS, updated software, access controls and backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed; significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
